MEDITERRANEA

Terra Aqua i Flamma... Earth Water and Fire, the perfect natural blend used by ancient potters of the Mediterranean to create these magnificent 17th, 18th and 19th Century olive oil, wine and water jars and pots.  Their rich colors, elegant shapes and native textures are quite distinct from region to region. Handcrafted markings and painted designs accentuate their antique beauty and charm. Mediterranean terracotta pots were traditionally fired in wood kilns in extremely high temperatures, thus giving them their lasting durability and sturdiness through the centuries.

Today these unique, authentic pots and jars are sought out as architectural focal points and accents for interior and exterior design.   As in the Old World, they still serve many functional purposes such as artful containers for planting flowers, succulents, citrus and herbs, or perhaps a table base with an elegant glass top.  They can also be grouped together, stand solitaire, or be tipped on their side to embellish any patio, entryway, courtyard or terrace.

The Mediterranean style of gardening has become an integral part of Western landscaping. Colorful bougainvillea, citrus, herbs, olive groves, vineyards and orchards combine seamlessly with handsome hardscape elements of terracotta or tile patios, trellises, fountains and walkways. The endless creativity of landscaping will always incorporate natural and authentic elements into design.  It is natural then to say that these treasured terracotta pots and jars add an elegant, historical and stunning dimension to any interior and exterior setting.
